Finally a show about the people who labor at the
beginning of the process. Actors know it. Directors know
it. Producers and studio execs know it. Now the
audience can realize it. Screenwriting is what everyone
wishes they could do well. They all sit and wait on the
next great screenplay, and without it, there is no movie,
no Oscar, no huge box office to brag about.
Yet these talented individuals usually toil in relative
obscurity, are often shunned from the set, and earn
less money. Weird business.
ENS, in association with the American Film Institute, is proud to
produce this hour long series that lives, eats, and yes, sleeps (how
else can we get ahead?) with screenwriters. This series explores the
process through the screenwriter's eyes, from the original idea to the
first phone call to the 30th rewrite to the film's release. It's all
there and it's very, very interesting.
